Characteristics

Shrub 1.5–3.5 m. tall; young branches glabrous with red-brown thin peeling bark; older branches greyish-buff.. Leaf-blades oblanceolate or narrowly obovate, 5.5–12 cm. long, 1.8–4.4 cm. wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, glabrous above, glabrescent with midrib pubescent to glabrescent beneath; bacterial nodules dot-like, scattered and along the nerves; petiole 0.8–1 cm. long, glabrous to glabrescent; stipule-limbs triangular, 0.7–1.1 cm. long, shortly apiculate, glabrous outside, caducous.. Corymbs terminal on short lateral branches 3.5–8.5 cm. long bearing 1–2 pairs of leaves, very compact, 1.5–2 cm. across; primary inflorescence-branches absent or rarely up to 3 mm. long; secondary branches absent; pedicels 2–4 mm. long, glabrous; bracts ovate, (2–)5–7 mm. long, papery, glabrous outside, with few silky hairs inside.. Calyx glabrous; tube 1 mm. long; limb-tube 1 mm. long; lobes narrowly triangular to linear, 5–8 mm. long, 0.5–0.75 mm. wide.. Corolla-tube 1.3–1.8 cm. long, 1.5–2 mm. wide at top, glabrous outside, not bearded at throat; lobes oblong or slightly oblanceolate, 4–7 mm. long, 1–2 mm. wide, acute.. Style 3–3.7 cm. long..
