Characteristics

Small tree or shrub, up to 3 m high. Leaves petiolate, fairly large, narrowly elliptic, acute to acuminate, glabrous. Domatia on lower leaf surfaces. Bacterial nodules elongated, arranged mostly along main vein, some round nodules also present, scattered over leaf surface. Inflorescences in few-to many-flowered, branched, lax, umbrella-like cymes in upper leaf axils and side branches. Flowers: corolla tube up to 20 mm long; lobes 10 mm long. Calyx: tube obconic; lobes ± 5.5 mm long, falcate with sharp point. Flowering time Dec., Jan. Fruit round, 5 mm in diam., crowned with long, slender, persistent calyx lobes.
