Characteristics

Small glabrous tree, 3 m. tall, with one or a few main branches and short lateral branches near apex.. Leaves drying greenish; blades narrowly oblong to oblong-elliptic or elliptic, 12–29 cm. long, 5–10 cm. wide, acute to acuminate at apex, acute to attenuated, and often unequal at base, subcoriaceous, very shiny above; bacterial nodules linear, restricted to midrib; petioles 1.3–5.5 cm. long; stipule-limbs truncate, 3–4 mm. long, sometimes becoming corky, bearing a slightly keeled lobe, 2 mm. long.. Corymbs terminal on green lateral branches 25.5–28 cm. long bearing 2–3 pairs of leaves near apex, lax, 5–10 cm. across; primary inflorescence-branches 0.7–2.2 cm. long; secondary and tertiary branches present; pedicels 2–7 mm. long; bracts ovate, 1 cm. long, apiculate; bracteoles inconspicuous.. Calyx-tube ± 2 mm. long; limb-tube 1.25 mm. long, distinctly wider than tube; lobes shortly dentate, ± 0.5 mm. long.. Corolla only known from bud; tube pubescent inside; lobes broadly lanceolate, ± 1 cm. long, ± 3 mm. wide.. Fruit black when dry, 1 cm. in diameter.. Seeds light brown with area surrounding cavity darker, ± 1 cm. in diameter, scarcely rugulose.
