Characteristics

Small tree or ? scandent shrub 1.8–7 m. tall; young branches glabrous, older branches with buff thin corky bark.. Leaves confined to very short spurs off the main and lateral branches; blades obovate, 1.2–4.8 cm. long, 0.45–1.8 cm. wide, apex rounded or obtuse, often with a thick mucro, base tapered, glabrous; bacterial nodules dot-shaped to linear, very sparse to several, scattered; petiole 0–3 mm. long; stipule-limbs buff-coloured, bearing a longer ± subulate cusp up to 2 mm. long, glabrous, hairy at base within.. Flowers solitary, sessile on the leafy spurs; bracts not exceeding 2 mm. long, hairy within.. Calyx glabrous; tube 1–2 mm. long; limb-tube 1.8–2 mm. long; lobes very narrowly triangular to linear, 4–9 mm. long, up to 1 mm. wide.. Corolla-tube 2.6–4.3 cm. long, 1–2.5 mm. wide at the top, glabrous outside and within; lobes lanceolate, 4.5–6 mm. long, 2–3 mm. wide, acute to acuminate..
