Leaves confined to very short spurs off the main and lateral branches; blades 1.2–4.8 × 0.45–1.8 cm, obovate, rounded or obtuse and often with a thick mucro at the apex, tapered at the base, glabrous; lateral nerves indistinct, in c. 3 main pairs; domatia absent; bacterial nodules dot-like to linear, very sparse to several, scattered; petiole 0–3 mm long; stipule-limbs buff-coloured, bearing a longer ± subulate cusp up to 2 mm long, glabrous, hairy at base within.
Corolla tube 2.6–4.3 cm long, 1–2.5 mm wide at the top, glabrous outside and within; lobes 4.5–6 × 2–3 mm, lanceolate, acute to acuminate.
Calyx glabrous; tube 1–2 mm long; limb-tube 1.8–2 mm long; lobes very narrowly triangular to linear, 4–9 mm long, up to 1 mm wide.
Small tree or ?scandent shrub 1.8–7 m tall; young branches glabrous, older branches with buff thin corky bark.
Flowers solitary, sessile on the leafy spurs; bracts not exceeding 2 mm in length, hairy within.
Seeds 4–5 mm wide, convex face with very shallow longitudinal striations.
Fruit straw-coloured to dark grey, 5–6 mm in diameter, shiny, glabrous.
