Species

Angiosperms > Fabales > Fabaceae > Pearsonia

Characteristics

Stems prostrate, d: 1.5-5 dm long, from a strong taproot or branched rootstock, somewhat flexuous, pubescent to tomentose with a mixture of short often crisped and long fine spreading hairs. Leaves: stipules usually broadly ovate-acuminate, less often lanceolate or obovate-orbicular, 0.5-1 x 0.2-0.9 cm; petioles 0.3-1.5(-2.5) cm long; leaflets elliptic to obovate, apiculate, 3.5-7 x (1.5-)2-3.5 cm, pilose to tomentose, with conspicuous lateral nerves (lower ones steeply ascending). Flowers white or cream with purple centre, (8-)16-30 in subdense to lax pedunculate racemes 5-15(-25) cm long; bracts and bracetoles similar, at top of pedicel, linear-lanceolate to oblate. Calyx 1.3-1.8(-2.2) cm long, densely hairy; upper lip ± 2-3 times as long as tube, with the lateral sinuses as high as or higher than the upper sinus; upper lobes narrowly to broadly triangular-lanceolate, acuminate, (3-)5-7(-9) mm long. Standard elliptic or oblong-elliptic, 1.6-2.2 cm long, pubescent outside. Ovary 14-30-ovulate. Pods narrowly oblong-pointed, shortly exserted from the calyx, up to 17 x 3.5 mm, rather densely hairy.
