Characteristics

Calyx 1.6–2 cm long, covered with short and long hairs; lobes c. 1.8–2.5 times as long as the tube, attenuately triangular-lanceolate, the upper ones broadest and downcurved; lateral sinus nearly equidistant from shallower upper and deeper lower ones.

Flowers mostly erect or resupinate, yellow, sometimes red-brown veined on the standard, solitary on leaf-opposed peduncles 1.2–3 cm long; bracts 0.5–1 cm long, linear or subulate; pedicels 2–4 mm long; bracteoles on the pedicel, similar to the bract.
Leaflets 2.5–4.7 × 0.6–1.2 cm, mostly narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, shorter and relatively broad on lower leaves, subappressed pilose on both surfaces; petiole 6–10 mm long; stipules 0.4–1.1 cm long, subulate to linear-caudate.
Stems spreading or decumbent, 15–35 cm long, from a strong taproot or narrow rootstock, covered with a mixture of short appressed and longer spreading hairs.
Standard c. 2 cm long, elliptic-obovate, medially pilose outside.
Pod c. 3.2 × 0.5 cm, oblong-pointed, densely pilose.
Ovary c. 30–32-ovulate.
Seeds 2–2.5 mm across.
