Characteristics

Perennial herb or subshrub, erect, up to c. 1 m high, moderately branched. Cortex of old branches greyish. Leaves lanceolate to narrowly oblong to spathulate, acute to somewhat apiculate, 25-85 x 4-35 mm, subentire to sharply serrate with lateral teeth up to 5 mm long, glandular-hairy, often with distinct mid-vein and lateral veins, sessile t0 petiolate, gradually tapering toward base or somewhat auriculate. Capitula laxly corymbose or solitary, 10-20 x c. 10 mm. Involucre cyathiform. Involucral bracts 40-70 in c 3 rows, narrowly lanceolate to narrowly oblong, acute, spreading at anthesis. Florets 40-80; corolla yellow, 10-15 x 1.5-2 mm; epidermis cells linear with smooth cell walls with few crystals; corolla lobes all of equal size, with acute hairs apically, c. 1/6 of total length of corolla. Style 8-11 mm; style-branches c. 3 mm, without crystal clusters. Anthers c. 4 mm, without crystal clusters; anther-tails c. 2 times longer than collar.
