Characteristics

Tuberous geophyte, up to 250 mm tall. Leaves dry at flowering, irregularly pinnatilobed to pinnatisect, up to 100 mm long, densely covered with white hairs. Flowers in 2-5 small clusters on a branched peduncle, usually 10-50 in each, subsessile, petals 5, yellow to cream-coloured, upper 2 with dark red claws, 8-15 mm long, lower 3 with red blotches in centre, hypanthium 22-33 mm long.
