Spreading-prostrate perennial herb, up to 0.1 m in diam., up to 0.3(0.6) m in height; pubescent-pilose with short, long and glandular hairs. Stipules ovate to broadly ovate or lanceolate-ovate, 2-7 x 1-3 mm. Leaves arranged in a basal rosette, opposite on spreading stems, simple, ovate in outline, margins sometimes 3-to 5-lobed but never incised, crenate-dentate, base cordate, leaf colour uncertain but possibly somewhat glaucous, rachis often reddish; petioles 15-60(-80) mm long; laminae 6-28 x 8-32 mm, pubescent-pilose adaxially and abaxially, especially abaxially along the veins with glandular hairs interspersed. Inflorescence axillary or rarely leaf-opposed, with (2-)3-7 flowers; peduncles 13-40 mm long; bracts lanceolate-ovate to broadly ovate, 1.5-5.0 x 0.5-3.0 mm, abaxially pilose, adaxially glabrous or only sparsely pubescent; pedicels 0.5-2.0(-2.5) mm long. Hypanthium 2.5-5.0 mm long, spreading pubescent-pilose with glandular hairs interspersed. Sepals 5, ovate-lanceolate to ovate-oblong, posterior lobe 4.0-5.5 x 1.0-2.8 mm, lateral lobes 4.0-5.5 x 1-2 mm, anterior lobes 4.5-5.5 x 1.5-2.5 mm, indumentum as for hypanthium or with longer pilose hairs. Petals 5, longer than sepals, magenta with purple venation (possibly posterior petals white with pink venation, anterior petals magenta with purple venation); posterior petals oblong, asymmetrical, 4.5-5.0 x 2.0-2.5 mm, apices obtuse; anterior petals oblanceolate-spathulate, symmetrical, 5-6 x 1-2 mm, apices obtuse. Androecium 7 fertile anthers, pinkish-brown, ca. 0.3-1.0 mm long, pollen cream-coloured to orange. Gynoecium ovary 2.0-2.5 mm long; style ca. 0.5-1.0 mm long; stigma branches ca. 1.0-1.5 mm long, pink-red to purple. Fruit bases of mericarps 2-3 mm long, glandular, tails 7(9)-12 mm long.
