Characteristics

Prostrate to spreading, short-lived perennial herb, up to 0.32(0.45) m in diam., up to 0.12 m in height; appressed pubescent-villous with short and longer hair, glandular hairs interspersed. Stipules ovate to broadly ovate, 0.8-2.0(-3.0) x 1.0-2.5(-4.0) mm. Leaves conspicuously arranged in a basal rosette, oppositely arranged on spreading stems, simple, ovate to subcircular in outline, margins usually pinnatilobed or bipinnatilobed, often to midrib, rarely only lobed, crenate, base cordate, sometimes glaucous, rachis often reddish; petioles 4-30(-35) mm long; laminae 7-25 x 5-27 mm, pubescent-villous adaxially and abaxially, sometimes with glandular hairs interspersed. Inflorescence axillary, with 3-6 flowers; peduncles 3-8(-21) mm long, densely appressed pubescent; bracts ovate, attenuate, 1-2(3) x 0.5-1.0 mm, abaxially pubescent, adaxially sparsely pubescent; pedicels (0.5-)1.0-1.5(-8.0) mm long. Hypanthium 0-1 mm long, appressed pubescent with glandular hairs interspersed. Sepals 5, elliptic to ovate, posterior lobe 2.5-3.5 x 1.3-1.5 mm, lateral lobes ca. 2.5 x 0.5-0.8 mm, anterior lobes 2.5-3.5 x 1.0-1.5 mm, indumentum as for hypanthium. Petals 5, ca. equal in length to sepals, white or pale pink (lilac) without any clear venation, oblanceolate-elliptic, posterior petals slightly asymmetrical, 2.0-3.3 x 0.5-0.8 mm, apices obtuse; anterior petals oblanceolate-elliptic, ca. symmetrical, 2.4-3.5 x 0.4-0.7 mm, apices obtuse. Androecium 5 fertile anthers, pink or reddish, 1.5-2.0 mm long, pollen cream-coloured. Gynoecium ovary ca. 1.5 mm long; style ca. absent; stigma branches 0.5-1.0 mm long, light brown, pinkish red to purple. Fruit bases of mericarps 1.5-2.0 mm long, glandular, tails 8-14 mm long.
