Characteristics

Erect to decumbent, aromatic subshrub with small root tubers; stems herbaceous, petioles and stipules persistent, internodes relatively long. Leaves subsucculent; lamina cordiform, 3-5-palmatilobed; petiole ± as long as lamina. Stipules membranous, persistent. Inflorescences of 3-6-flowered pseudo-umbels; pedicels 1-2 mm long. Hypanthium 15-20 mm long. Petals white to cream-coloured; posterior 2 sometimes with carmine, feather-like markings and larger than anterior 3. Sepals 5, imbricate, connate at base, apex sometimes reflexed. Petals 5, white or pale pink, posterior petals with red markings. Flowering time all year.
