Characteristics

Subshrub, 0.15-0.30 m high; with short hairs of ± 1 mm long. Leaves: lamina fairly small, 20-40 mm in diam., palmately lobed with deep red or purple horseshoe marking, lobes rounded, base cordate, margins toothed. Inflorescences of 2-or 3-flowered pseudo-umbels. Petals narrow, 12 x 3 mm; white or flesh-coloured; posterior 2 and sometimes anterior 3 with central carmine spot. Stamens: anthers light pink; pollen yellow to light orange; flowers protandrous. Flowering time Oct.-Jan.
