Characteristics

Fruticosum, 1/2-3/4 m altum, pilis dz sordidis hirsutum. Caulis herbaceo-sublignosus vel sublignosus, usque 6 min crassus, subteres, erectus, dense foliatus, db squarroso-ramosus ramis cauli consimilibus. Folia numerosa vel pernumerosa, alterna; petioli longitudine varii, mox quam lamina 2-plo longiores, mox ea breviores, usque 5 cm longi et 1 mm crassi; folia summa gradatim minora et non raro brevissime petiolata; lamina pilis ± hyalinis utrinque hirsuta, 1 1/2-4 cm diametiens, basi cuneata vel cordata vel truncata, usque ad 1/4-1/2 obtuse trilobata, lobis latis basi lata cuneatis acutiuscule denticulatis. Stipulae late ovato-cordatae, acutae vel fere minute mucronatae, usque 5 mm longae et 4 mm latae, pilis fere albidis hirsutae. Pedunculi ad apices ramulorum satis numerosi, 1-7 cm longi, 1-1 1/4 mm crassi, sicut bracteae et pedicelli et calyx totus pilis patulis hirsuti, 2-3-flori. Bracteae ovatae, satis abrupte acuminatae, acutae, 6 mm longae, 2 1/2-3 mm latae. Flores pedicellati, pedicellis 4-10 mm longis, 1/2 mm crassis. Calycis calcar 1 1/2-5 mm longum, 1 1/4 mm crassum, sub sepalis vix ampliatum, pedicellis manifeste crassius; sepala anguste oblonga, acuminata, acuta, 8-10 mm longa, 2-3 mm lata, hirsuta. Petala sepalis 2-2 1/2-plo longiora; duo maiora 14-18 mm longa et 7-8 mm lata, late obovata, apice rotundata, integra, carmineo-rubra vel rubra, ad venas graciliter atro-purpureo-striata; tria inferiora minora et non raro 2-plo angustiora, concolora. Filamenta sepalis 3-3 1/2-plo breviora, filiformia. Rostrum pilis patentissimis hispidum.
