Characteristics

Sparsely branched subshrub with small subterranean tubers. Stems spreading and trailing, cylindrical, herbaceous, brittle. Leaves 5-palmatilobate to 5-palmatifid; lamina circular, 30-50 mm in diameter, sparsely hispid with pyriform-headed glandular hairs in between; stipules membranous. Pseudo-umbels 2-flowered. Pedicel (2-4 mm) much shorter than hypanthium (18-20 mm). Petals 5, cream but becoming white; posterior two 17-25 mm x 6-12 mm, with wine-red blotches and feather-like markings; anterior three 19-28 mm x 7-16 mm.

Straggling, much-branched, ± succulent shrublet, up to 250 mm tall, with brittle stems. Leaves petiolate, blade digitately 5-lobed, 30-50 mm wide, margins toothed. Flowers paired at tips of peduncles, ± 45 mm diam., pedicel 2-4 mm long, petals 5, white to cream-coloured, upper 2 with large wine-red blotches, hypanthium 18-20 mm long.
