Characteristics

Many-stemmed, scandent, non-aromatic, shrub. Stems succulent, relatively thin, brittle, obtusely 3-or 4-angled, internodes relatively long. Leaves subsucculent, glabrous to villous and with glandular hairs interspersed; lamina cordiform or reniform, 5-palmatifid, often zoned; petiole much longer than lamina, sometimes partially persistent; stipules sometimes persistent. Pseudo-umbels 1-2-flowered. Pedicel very short (1-4 mm) and much shorter than hypanthium (25-60 mm). Petals 4(5), cream or pink with wine-red streaks, posterior two relatively large (40-50 mm long) and twice as long as anterior ones. Fertile stamens 7.
