Androdioecious tree to 30 m high, often buttressed; branchlets often zig-zagged, glabrous. Leaves alternate; lamina elliptic, oblong-elliptic, oblong-ovate, ovate or obovate, (6–) 7–18 (–19) cm long, (3–) 4–8 (–12) cm wide, cuneate or decurrent at base, entire, often undulate margin (remotely denticulate in juveniles), shortly acuminate, acute or rarely obtuse at apex, coriaceous, glossy, glabrous; secondary veins 5–8 pairs, pit-like domatia prominent, mostly in forks of secondary veins; petiole (0.5–) 1–2 cm long. Inflorescence 5–12 cm long; rachis sparsely puberulent; pedicels 0.5–1.5 mm long. Petals elliptic, 3–4 mm long, 3-veined, white or cream. Staminal filaments reflexed about middle, c. 4 mm long. Male flowers: ovary rudimentary with sometimes an imperfect ovule. Bisexual flowers: ovary 2–2.5 mm long, glabrous; style c. 0.5 mm long; stigma deeply 3-lobed.
