Shrub or usually a tree to 10 (–15) m high. Leaves alternate; lamina broadly elliptic to obovate, (7–) 9–18 (–25) cm long, (5–) 6–9 (–15) cm wide, acute at base, entire or sometimes obscurely and irregularly sinuate-dentate margin, obtuse to almost rounded apex, glossy above, glabrous; petiole (1–) 1.5–3 cm long, glabrous. Inflorescence cymose-paniculate, unisexual, many-flowered. Flowers functionally unisexual. Calyx obscure. Petals lanceolate, 3–4 mm long, white. Stamens 2 mm long. Ovary barrel-shaped, 1.5 mm long; stigma sessile, discoid. Drupe ellipsoidal, c. 7–8 mm long, c. 3 mm diam.
