Characteristics

Shrubs to 3(-4) m tall. Leaves subsessile, pinnatifid lobed, 0.75-1.00 m tall, to 0.35 m wide, acute or rounded at the apex of the blade, cordate at the base, the sinuses not rounded, coriaceous, glabrous to pubescent; petioles short, the lamina decurrent (Standley-: "lower portion of the blade petiolelike 8-16 cm long"); stipules ovate, to 4 cm long, acute. Inflorescences with the cymules densely flowered, the bracts triangular, elongate, acute. Flowers with the hypan-thium rotund, ca. 5 mm long, the calycine cup turbinate, to 15 mm long, the calycine lobes oblong, shorter or about as long as the cup, obtuse; corolla green, cylindrical or infundibuliform, the tube ca. 2.5 cm long, the lobes 5, triangular or ovate, 6-7 mm long. Fruits rotund, 1.0-1.7 cm in diam., lenticellate; seeds to 3 mm long, smooth.
