Flowers in racemes or umbels, which are arranged in panicles or compound umbels, pedicels articulated below the ovary. Calyx 5. Petals 5, imbricate in the bud. Stamens 5. Ovary inferior, 5-celled, disk ± conical, surmounted by the styles which are united their whole length or become free down to half their length. Fruit globose; exocarp leathery, enclosing crustaceous pyrenes. Seeds compressed, endosperm smooth.
