Characteristics

Leaves alternate, sessile; blade oblong or linear, margins entire, apex 2-or 3(-5)-toothed, apex of upper leaves entire, base narrowly cuneate; gland-dotted, glabrous. Heads discoid, many in terminal, compound corymbs; pedunculate. Involucral bracts with scarious margins. Receptacle epaleate. Flowers: disc florets only; corolla 5-lobed, bright yellow; Mar.-Jul. Fruit with cypsela obliquely wedge-shaped, 5-ribbed, with glands between ribs. Pappus a single, oblique scale.
