Characteristics

Shrub, up to 0.6 m high; rigid, erect. Leaves alternate, petiolate; blade pinnatipartite, lobes linear, upper leaves trifid or entire, thinly hairy. Heads discoid, large, ± 15 mm in diameter, solitary, long pedunculate. Involucral bracts oblong, obtuse, margins membranous. Receptacle epaleate. Flowers: disc florets only; corolla 5-lobed, yellow; Jan., Feb., May. Fruit with cypsela oblong, 5-ribbed, glandular between ribs. Pappus an auriculately shaped scale, dentate.
