Characteristics

Perennial herb, stems woody at base, procumbent to erect, rooting at nodes. Leaves opposite at base, alternate upwards, glabrous or with longish light brown hairs, linear, up to 20 mm long, acute, bases half-clasping, entire or pinnatifid with 1-6 linear lobes; margins revolute, glandular punctate. Capitula solitary, terminal, up to 10 mm in diameter, on short peduncles, homogamous, discoid. Receptacle convex, alveolate, epaleate. Involucre campanulate, involucral bracts in 3 rows, free, outer obtuse to rounded, with narrow membraneous margins, ±4 mm long, middle row broadly ovate with broad membraneous margins, 2.5-4.0 mm long, inner spathulate, membraneous, 2.5-3.0 mm long. Flowers bisexual, corolla yellow, tubular below, limb globose, 2.5 mm long, with 5 cucullate lobes, glandular. Stamens 5, anthers with large ovate apical appendage, ecaudate but shortly calcarate and with a distinct filament collar. Style bifid, lobes truncate, penicillate, stigmatic areas in 2 separate lines. Cypselas turbinate, 5 winged, wings extending upwards and curving outwards, radiating into 5 arms, glabrous but with some glands in grooves between wings, light yellowish brown, 2.0-2.5 x 1.5-2.0 mm. Pappus absent.
