Epiphytic, stoloniferous herb, strongly glandular dotted, erect, hanging, prostrate or ascending. Stem to 15 cm long, green or reddish, glabrous, except for lines of hairs decurrent from nodes. Leaves basely attached, alternate; petiole 0.5-1(-2.5) cm long, usually ciliate with 2 rows of hairs; blade fleshy to membranous, densely black-glandular (when dried), narrowly ovate or ovate, 1.5-8(-11) x 0.5-3.5(-5) cm, margin ciliate near apex, apex acute to acuminate, base acute to acuminate, sometimes subobtuse, glabrous; venation obvious, pli-or palmately 3-5-veined. Inflorescence terminal, single, or several in upper leaf axils, erect to pendent; peduncle 0.5-1.5 cm long, glabrous, black-glandular; spike to 16 cm long, moderately densely flowered, flowers distinctly separate; floral bracts rounded, glabrous and black-glandular. Fruits laterally attached, globose, reddish brown, apex oblique with subapical stigma.
A black-glandular-dotted, stoloniferous-assurgent herb; stem 1-2 mm. thick, branches ascending to 15 cm. or more, glabrous except for the ciliate petioles and lines decurrent from their margins below the nodes; leaves ovate to ovate-elliptic-lanceolate, 8-13 mm. wide X 15-35 mm. long, or occasionally up to 2.5 X 6 cm., acute to acuminate at both ends or not infrequently blunt or subobtuse, palmately 3-to 5-nerved, or plinerved within the lowermost 5-7 mm., ciliated near the apex, or some leaves throughout, mostly drying dark and subopaque; petiole 5-10 mm. long, grooved above, clasping-decurrent, mostly crisp-ciliate; spikes terminal and from the upper leaf axils, slender, up to 5-8 or occasionally as much as 12 cm. or more long; peduncle 10-15 mm. long; bracts round-peltate, black-dotted; fruit globose-ovoid, apex oblique, somewhat scutelliform and scutellum commonly with a thin margin, stigma subapical.
Herbs , perennial, rhizomatous, erect, decumbent, or reclining, simple or branched, 8-45 cm, mostly glabrous, with numerous black, glandular dots. Leaves alternate; petiole 1/8-1/4 length of blade, pubescent in lines with upwardly curved hairs. Leaf blade 3-5-veined from base, ovate to narrowly or broadly elliptic, 2-6.5 × 1-4 cm, base nearly rounded to broadly cuneate, apex acute to short-acuminate; surfaces mostly glabrous. Spikes terminal or terminal and axillary, 1-4, densely flowered, 3-13 cm, mature fruiting spikes 2-3 mm diam. Fruits sessile, very broadly ovoid to globose, 0.7-0.8 × 0.6-0.7 mm, warty; beak obliquely conic, 0.1-0.2 mm.
