Climber with tuberous rootstock; young stems herbaceous, glabrous, becoming thickened when older and woody with a thin pale brown bark and spotted with conspicuous paler oval raised lenticels.. Leaves unknown.. Tendrils simple.. Flowers white, appearing when the plant is leafless, the ♂ 18–24 in 95–120 mm. long racemiform pubescent inflorescences arising from the nodes; young flowers clustered at the apex of the inflorescence; peduncle 9–11 mm. long; pedicels 11–17 mm. long, deciduous; bracts filiform, tripartite, 5–7 mm. long; receptacle-tube cylindrical, 8–11 mm. long; lobes lanceolate, 7–9 mm. long; petals rounded, apiculate, free; stamens 3; thecae triplicate, with one fold of each extended upwards to ± 2.5 times the length of the other two.. Female flowers, fruits and seeds unknown.
