Characteristics

Flowers pedicellate, inserted singly, surrounded by short bracts and arranged in a long, very lax, slender, pedunculate panicle; bracts 2–3(3.5) mm long, ovate to orbiculate, scarious, sometimes with an acuminate apex, surface glabrous, ciliate at the margin; peduncle up to 6 cm long, eglandular.

Perianth white with purple to pinkish-mauve tips, 3–3.5 mm long, eglandular, with 5 lobes longer than the tube, unequal, the 2 external lobes c. 1.8 mm wide, broadly ovate, the 3 internal lobes c. 1 mm wide, lanceolate, both with rounded, obtuse apex.
Leaf lamina dull green, (2)4–7(10) × (0.4)0.5–0.7(1.4) cm, linear-lanceolate, acute at the apex, sagittate at the base with basal lobes up to 1 cm long, glabrous; petiole up to 1 cm long, sometimes with several reflexed bristles.
Ocrea (0.7)0.9–1.8(2.5) cm long, acute or subacute at the apex, with short hairs along the veins and a basal ring of reflexed bristles.
Stamens 8, unequal in length, included in the perianth; filaments up to c. 2.5 mm long, filiform; anthers white, 0.3 × 0.4 mm long.
Ovary 1.25 × 0.75 mm; styles 3, c. 1 mm long, united for half their length.
A slender, erect, perennial herb, sometimes rooting at the lower nodes.
Nut (immature) c. 2 × 1.5 mm, ?trigonous.
