Characteristics

Erect shrubs or trees 1-6 m tall. Bark smooth on upper branches, finely fissured at base. Hairs greyish to tawny, appressed to patent or curly. Leaves narrowly to broadly elliptic to ovate to obovate, 3-11 cm long, 10-40 mm wide, flat to convex, with slightly recurved margins, suberect, straight, twisted through 0-90°, innocuous, concolorous to slightly discolorous, not glaucous, moderately to densely hairy when immature, glabrescent, smooth. Inflorescence usually auxotelic, 1-20-flowered; rachis 0-10 cm long. Flowers subtended by scale leaves and leaves; pedicels 1-4 mm long, erect, moderately to densely hairy; tepals 10-13 mm long, apiculate to shortly caudate, moderately to densely hairy on outside. Ovary moderately to densely hairy or rarely glabrous; hairs greyish to tawny; ovule 1.
