Much like no. 3 [Phacelia purshii Buckley]; stem sparsely spreading-hirsute, becoming hirtellous in the infl and there often with scattered longer hairs as well; lvs avg smaller, the lobes broadly acute to obtuse, sparsely strigose on the upper surface, often glabrate beneath; cor white, seldom tinged with blue or lavender; seeds 3–3.5 mm; 2n=18. Mt. woods; sw. Va. to N.C. and Tenn. May, June.
