Cultivation

Origin: as Medjool o.p. seedling on property of F. Heiny, Brawley, Calif., in 1911. Tree: vigorous; trunk medium heavy; similar to Medjool in most respects. Good-quality date, but extremely short fruit stalks are too short for proper handling. Fruit: soft type; large, 35-50 x 26-32 mm, oblong; skin medium thick, pink when immature, amber to dull reddishbrown with purple tint at maturity; flesh soft but firm; flavor very similar to Medjool; ripens early.
