Dichotomous, erect plants; internodes terete but somewhat keeled below young nodes, to 7 cm long; basal cataphylls 1 pair, somewhat tubular, 0.2-0.3 cm above base, inconspicuous. Petiole ca. 0.3 cm long; blade obovate, to 6 x 3.5 cm, apex rounded to notched, base contracted to indistinct; venation pinnate but obscure. Monoecious. Inflorescence slender, to nearly 2 cm; peduncle 0.3-0.5 cm, with 1 short internode followed by 1 twice as long; fertile internodes mostly 2 or 3; flowers 5-9 per fertile bract, 2-seriate. Fruit white.
