Characteristics

Similar to P. chevalieri, but taller (up to 1.5 m. tall) and more robust, having foliage leaves on the orthotropic axes instead of cataphylls, shorter and more chartaceous leaf-blades (0.5–1.3 cm. long), a hexagonal rather than a 6-lobed ♀ disc, and in having the seeds with transversely lineate reddish-brown markings in the grooves between the longitudinal ridges rather than tubercles on the ridges themselves..
