Foliage leaves distichous; petioles 0.5–0.75 mm long; stipules variable, those on the primary lateral shoots resembling those of the scale leaves, those on the secondary shoots c. 0.5 mm long, narrowly lanceolate; leaf blades up to 13 × 7 mm, ovate to elliptic-ovate, obtuse, rounded to rounded-cuneate at the base, membranous, medium green above, paler beneath; lateral nerves in 5–6 pairs, not prominent above, slightly so beneath.
Male flowers 2–3 per fascicle, accompanied by a female flower, or not; pedicels less than 1 mm long, capillary; sepals 5, 0.4 × 0.5 mm, broadly ovate-suborbicular, pale yellowish, translucent, with a faint midrib; disk glands 5, free, circular, flat, petaloid; stamens 3, free, filaments 0.25 mm long, suberect-spreading, anthers 0.1 mm across, ± horizontally held, transversely dehiscent.
Seeds 0.8 × 0.75 × 0.7 mm, segmentiform, light brown, with 8 rows of tubercles on the dorsal facet, and 6–7 concentric rows of tubercles on each ventral facet.
Lead shoots very slightly asperulous; lateral shoots up to 11 cm long, quite smooth, later co-axillary with secondary lead shoots.
Scale leaves 0.75 mm long, subulate; stipules 0.75–1 mm long, triangular-lanceolate.
An erect annual herb to c. 30 cm tall, monoecious, completely glabrous.
Fruit 1 × 1.75–2 mm, rounded-3-lobed, strongly depressed, smooth.
