Characteristics

Slender, perennial herb, 0.2-1.0 m high; semi-succulent. Leaves ± sessile or shortly petioled, lanceolate-elliptic, base obtuse, apex rounded, mucronate. Inflorescences few-flowered spikes. Flowers bisexual; pedicels up to 4 mm long. Sepals 5, ± united at base. Stamens 6 or 7 in one whorl. Carpels 5-7; styles ± straight. Flowering time Dec.-Mar. Fruit 5-7 drupelets.
