Characteristics

Shrub 0.2–1.5 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, sessile or nearly so, narrowly ovate to narrowly obovate, glabrous, concolorous; lamina 7–22 mm long, 2.5–7.5 mm wide. Inflorescence pendulous, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts usually in 3–6 pairs, broadly elliptic to almost circular, 11–25 mm long, 7–17 mm wide, glabrous or the yellow or yellowish inner bracts sometimes slightly ciliate. Flowers bisexual, yellow. Hypanthium 11–15 mm long, circumscissile, glabrous; style-portion 8–11 mm long. Sepals 3–3.5 mm long, glabrous or with a few hairs outside along midrib. Stamens shorter or longer than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse. Ovary with minute hairs throughout.
