Characteristics

Undershrub to 30 cm high, sometimes prostrate and mat-like. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, ±narrowly elliptic, glabrous, concolorous or slightly paler abaxially, usually medium green; lamina 3–13 mm long, 1–4.5 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, 5–18-flowered; involucral bracts 4, elliptic or ovate, 4–9 mm long, 2.5–4.5 mm wide, glabrous, green. Flowers bisexual or female, antrorse-hairy outside, sparsely hairy or glabrous inside, reddish pink or white. Hypanthium 3.5–6 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 2–4 mm long. Sepals c. 2 mm long. Stamens shorter than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse. Ovary distally hairy.
