Characteristics

Shrub 0.7–3 m high. Young stems with dense shiny hairs. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic, glabrous and medium green on adaxial surface, paler abaxially and with hairs concentrated at apex, glabrous or sparsely hairy below apex; lamina 8–35 mm long, 2–7 mm wide. Inflorescence of terminal, few-flowered clusters. Flowers male or female, possibly sometimes bisexual, densely covered outside by short shiny hairs, white or cream. Hypanthium 9–11.5 mm long, hairy inside; style-portion of female flowers 7–8 mm long. Sepals 2.5–5 mm long, glabrous inside. Stamens inserted below sepals, subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Style not or scarcely exserted.
