Shrub 0.4–1.8 m high. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves alternate or opposite, usually shortly petiolate, linear to elliptic or nearly so, densely hairy, concolorous, usually pale green or silvery; lamina 4–47 mm long, 2–10 mm wide. Inflorescence of axillary, several-to many-flowered clusters. Flowers glabrous inside, white to yellow or greenish. Sepals spreading, hairy outside. Male flowers: hypanthium 3–5.5 mm long, glabrous or hairy; sepals 1.5–2 mm long; stamens shorter than to slightly exceeding sepals; anther locules latrorse. Female flowers: hypanthium 2.5–5 mm long, circumscissile, usually hairy; style-portion 0.5–2 mm long; sepals 1–1.5 mm long; ovary glabrous or distally hairy; style definitely exserted.
