Characteristics

Shrub usually 0.4–1 m high. Leaves subsessile, narrowly ovate-elliptic or linear, discolorous; lamina 5–24 mm long, 0.5–3 mm wide; margins recurved, becoming revolute. Inflorescence erect; involucral bracts 4 or 6, narrowly to broadly ovate, 7–13 mm long, 3.5–9 mm wide, sometimes hairy inside, very rarely slightly ciliate. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, white (often pink in bud). Hypanthium not circumscissile, 8–12 mm long; ovary-portion with short hairs and often a few longer hairs towards summit; style-portion 6–9 mm long, with a mixture of long spreading hairs and short hairs in distal part and short hairs above. Sepals 2–4 mm long. Stamens shorter than to slightly exceeding sepals; filament 1.5–2.5 mm long; anther locules latrorse.
