Characteristics

Prostrate mat-forming undershrub. Young stems hairy. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic or elliptic, glabrous on adaxial surface, with short appressed hairs abaxially, concolorous, medium green; lamina 2–10 mm long, 1–5 mm wide. Inflorescence terminal, 2-flowered. Flowers bisexual or rarely female, with short appressed hairs outside, glabrous inside, distally red, paler below. Hypanthium 4–7 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 2.2–5 mm long. Sepals 0.8–2 mm long. Stamens inserted below and exceeded by sepals; anther locules introrse. Style included.
