Characteristics

Shrub or undershrub 0.1–1 m high. Leaves shortly petiolate or sessile, linear to elliptic-oblong, discolorous; lamina 2–10 mm long, 1–3 mm wide; margins revolute. Inflorescence erect; involucral bracts 4 or 6, elliptic, ovate or broadly elliptic, 4.5–8 mm long, 2.5–7 mm wide, often partially hairy inside, often ciliate. Flowers bisexual or female, glabrous inside, white. Hypanthium not circumscissile, 4–8 mm long; ovary-portion glabrous at base, shortly hairy above, sometimes with long hairs near summit; style-portion 2.5–5 mm long, with short hairs throughout, often with long spreading hairs in lower part or throughout. Sepals 1.5–3 mm long. Stamens exceeding or sometimes equalling sepals; filament 1.5–3 mm long; anther locules semi-latrorse.
