Characteristics

Shrub usually 0.3–1.3 m high. Leaves shortly petiolate, usually narrowly ovate, often concolorous; lamina 7–28 mm long, 2–3.5 mm wide; margins recurved. Inflorescence erect; involucral bracts 2 or 4, ovate or broadly ovate, hairy inside at least near base, usually densely ciliate. Flowers bisexual, white. Hypanthium not circumscissile, 8–15 mm long, glabrous inside; ovary-portion with minute hairs or rarely glabrous; style portion 6–12 mm long, usually minutely hairy at base, with a band of long spreading hairs mixed with minute hairs above and with medium-sized antrorse hairs in distal part. Sepals sparsely hairy or glabrous inside. Stamens subsessile at flower throat; anther locules strictly introrse.
