Characteristics

Shrub 20–30 cm or more high. Stems hairy at least sparsely near inflorescence. Leaves alternate, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic or linear, glabrous or ciliate when young, medium or darker green; lamina 5–16 mm long, 1–3 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts 9–15, narrowly ovate, 7–15 mm long, 1.5–4 mm wide, glabrous or sparsely hairy outside, often hairy inside, prominently ciliate, green. Flowers bisexual, densely covered outside by a mixture of long spreading hairs and minute hairs, white. Hypanthium c. 10 mm long, circumscissile or possibly persistent; style-portion c. 7 mm long, hairy inside. Sepals c. 2.5 mm long, glabrous inside. Stamens usually shorter than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse. Ovary distally hairy.
