Characteristics

Shrub 0.4–1.5 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic to ovate or nearly so, glabrous, usually concolorous, yellowish green to deep bluish green; lamina 6–22 mm long, 2–6 mm wide. Inflorescence pendulous, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts in 3–5 pairs, elliptic, 12–28 mm long, 6–14 mm wide, glabrous outside, sometimes partially hairy inside, all yellowish or pale green or outer bracts darker or partly reddish. Flowers bisexual or rarely female, glabrous inside, creamy or pale yellow. Hypanthium 7.5–12 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 5–9.5 mm long. Sepals 2.5–4.5 mm long, hairy outside. Stamens longer than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse. Ovary hairy throughout.
