Characteristics

Shrub 0.4–2 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, sessile, ±narrowly elliptic to elliptic, concolorous, medium green; lamina 10–48 mm long, 4.5–18 mm wide. Inflorescence usually pendulous, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts in 3, 4 or sometimes more pairs, pale green to yellow green and sometimes partially reddish; outer bracts ovate or broadly ovate, 11–21 mm long, 7–18 mm wide, glabrous; innermost bracts ciliate. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, white or cream. Hypanthium 19–27 mm long, with deciduous hairs 11–17 mm long below circumscission point and with spreading hairs above circumscission point. Sepals 4–5 mm long. Stamens slightly exceeding sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse. Ovary glabrous.
