Characteristics

Herb 10–50 cm high. Young stems hairy. Leaves alternate, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic, glabrous or with scattered hairs, concolorous, yellowish green; lamina 3–18 mm long, 0.5–2.5 mm wide. Inflorescence terminal, becoming elongate and interrupted, to 50 mm long, many-flowered. Flowers bisexual, with a dense white indumentum of short antrorse hairs outside, glabrous inside. Hypanthium 2.5–3 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion poorly defined, c. 1 mm long. Sepals erect, c. 0.5 mm long, yellowish or reddish. Stamens inserted below sepals, subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse or semi-latrorse. Style not or scarcely exserted.
