Characteristics

Shrub 0.3–2 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, usually narrowly elliptic to ovate, glabrous, concolorous, medium green; lamina 5–20 mm long, 1.5–5 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts usually 8 or 10, ovate or elliptic, 5–11 mm long, 1.3–4 mm wide, glabrous outside, densely hairy inside, densely ciliate, dark reddish at base, green above. Flowers bisexual, glabrous at extreme base outside, densely hairy above, white or sometimes pale pink. Hypanthium 6–8 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 3.5–5 mm long, with short hairs (sometimes mixed with long hairs) outside, hairy inside. Sepals 2.5–3.5 mm long, glabrous inside. Stamens longer than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse. Ovary hairy especially distally.
