Characteristics

Dense shrub 0.3–1.5 m high. Leaves shortly petiolate, elliptic to narrowly elliptic, very discolorous; lamina 5–16 mm long, 1.5–6.5 mm wide; margins recurved. Inflorescence erect; involucral bracts 4, broadly ovate, 5–14 mm long, 5–10 mm wide, glabrous inside, usually ciliate. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, pale to deep pink. Hypanthium not circumscissile, 7–13 mm long; ovary-portion with minute hairs, often with long hairs in upper part or throughout; style-portion 4.5–10 mm long, with a mixture of long spreading hairs and much shorter hairs in lower part and medium-sized antrorse hairs above. Sepals 2.5–4 mm long. Stamens usually slightly exceeding sepals; filament 1.5–3 mm long; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse.
