Characteristics

Shrub 0.25–1 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic to ovate, glabrous, medium green or bluish green on adaxial surface, slightly more glaucous abaxially; lamina 7–40 mm long, 2–15 mm wide. Inflorescence pendulous, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts 4 or rarely 6, ovate or broadly ovate, 10–28 mm long, 8–20 mm wide, glabrous outside, hairy inside, very rarely ciliate, green with a red or pink base. Flowers bisexual or rarely female, glabrous inside, white or cream. Hypanthium of bisexual flowers 14–17 mm long, densely hairy outside below circumscission point; distal portion 10–12 mm long, with short hairs, those at the base retrorse. Sepals 3.5–5 mm long. Stamens longer than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse. Ovary glabrous.
