Characteristics

Slender shrub 0.7–4 m high. Leaves shortly petiolate, usually narrowly elliptic, flat or adaxially concave, concolorous or nearly so; lamina usually 9–25 mm long, 2–10 mm wide. Inflorescence erect; involucral bracts 4, ovate, 6–13 mm long, 4–8 mm wide; outer bracts hairy inside; inner bracts uniformly hairy inside, ciliate. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, white to deep pink. Hypanthium circumscissile, 7–10.5 mm long; ovary-portion shortly reflexed-hairy, with a few long hairs near summit; style-portion 5–8 mm long, with a mixture of long spreading hairs and much shorter hairs, the long hairs concentrated in or sometimes confined to lower part. Sepals 2.5–3.5 mm long. Stamens exceeding sepals; filament 3–4.5 mm long; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse.
