Shrub 0.2–3 m high. Young stems hairy. Leaves alternate or opposite, shortly petiolate, moderately densely hairy at least on abaxial surface, medium to dark green or blue-green on adaxial surface, paler abaxially. Inflorescence terminal, erect, 1–18-flowered. Flowers bisexual or female, hairy outside, glabrous inside. Hypanthium 3.5–10 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 2–7.5 mm long. Sepals 1–3.5 mm long. Stamens inserted below or at base of sepals, subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Style not or scarcely exserted.
