Characteristics

Shrub 0.3–1 m high. Young stems hairy. Leaves alternate, shortly petiolate, narrowly obovate to elliptic, sparsely appressed-hairy on both surfaces or only abaxially, olive or dark blue-green on adaxial surface, usually paler abaxially; lamina 7–22 mm long, 2–7 mm wide. Flowers bisexual or male, in upper axils, 1 to several per axil, densely antrorse-hairy outside, white. Hypanthium 6–10 mm long; style-portion poorly defined, 4.5–8 mm long, hairy inside. Sepals 2–4 mm long. Stamens inserted below sepals, subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Style not exserted.
